Baby Shower Cupcakes

The girls wanted to throw a surprise baby shower for one of my friends and I volunteered to do the desserts.. which is of course cupcakes and cakes.

I wanted to try out something different than a normal sheet cake with fondant decorations, so decided do to a cake tower. The plan was to  fill the bottom two tiers with cupcakes and have a small cake on top. I did not want both the tiers to have the same kind of cupcakes so i decided to make at least 2 different kinds
( honestly speaking, i wanted a reason to try out different cakes recipes). After many trials, finally zeroed it to Lemon vanilla cupcakes with lemon cream frosting and the Death by chocolate cupcakes.

The lemon vanilla cupcakes are moist and sweet with a delicate lemon flavor. The frosting is rich and fluffy with a great lemon zing to it.

The next tier had the death by chocolate cupcakes. Trust me, every die hard fan of chocolate should try out this cupcake. It is a chocolate cupcake, dipped in dark chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate butter cream .
I used my homemade marshmallow fondant to make all the cupcake toppers.  I made some adorable booties, rattles, duckies, bibs, pacifiers and milk bottles.

My time management was pretty bad, so I had to hurry up and make a tin cake for the topmost tier. I was not happy with the cake but the pregnant lady on top kinda made up for the faults I had in the cake :)

For all the Chocolate Lovers

I tried out so many recipes for the perfect chocolate cake and finally found my favorite. This cake is so moist, light and chocolatey and it is a must eat for all the chocolate lovers. For those who love a simple yet chocolatey desert this heavenly chocolate cake with velvety chocolate buttercream would just do the job. For the fancier parties  this cakes can be filled with chocolate ganache between the layers and covered with the richest chocolate fudge.

I made this cake for my friend's birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. I filled the cake with chocolate butter cream between the 2 layers and covered with the same buttercream. My friend did not want the cake to be too sweet so i crumbed coated the side of the cake with chocolate buttercream and pressed chocolate wafers to the sides.
My husband loves chocolate and yoga so i made a 9inch cake with 3 layers. I filled chocolate ganache between each layer and covered it with rich dark chocolate Godiva buttercream. The 3 toppers on the cake represent some of the yoga postures that we do in our Hot yoga class. I used marshmallow fondant for the toppers..

Another one of my chocolate cake with chocolate fudge creation.

My daughter's Minne Mouse theme birthday party

It took me 3 months to plans my daughter's 3rd birthday party. I loved every minute of it, looking up for ideas in pinterest, thinking of ways to add my twist to the short listed ideas, planning the "To do" list and last but not the least.. all the shopping.

The theme was Minnie mouse. The table with the cake and the goodies was the center of attention. I did not want to overdo the decorations. I wanted the party to be to be simple yet fun.

For the table cover, I got the pink plastic table cover in party city and stapled Minnie mouse streamers on the edge.

The main cake was a Vanilla pound cake with chocolate ganache. I covered the cake with pink fondant. I used copper, black, white and red colored marshmallow fondant to make the Minnie's face. I used a couple of vanilla and red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting to place on the side.

I wanted a mess free way to distribute cakes to the parents and the kids.. so I chose cupcakes. I made 2 dozen vanilla and red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting. I printed out the cupcake toppers and stuck them to craft paper for support ( i did not want them to bend ). I covered the toothpicks with red candy wrappers and glued them to the toppers.

More goodies for the kids.. I made chocolate covered Oreo and stuck store bought Minnie mouse icing decorations on top. Covered them with candy wrapper and tied them up with thin pink ribbons.. thanks to my sister in law.. she did all the wrapping :)

For the birthday banner I used black and white craft sheet for the circles. For the letters I used white and hot pink glittery craft sheet.
